To almost everyone"s surprise (including mine!), Pokemon Pokopia released to rousing success last week, becoming the highest-rated game of 2026 on Metacritic and selling over two million units in its opening weekend. While I've had a blast playing it on the Nintendo Switch 2, Pokopia's breakout success had me reflecting on a common talking point in Nintendo discussions: the idea of "System Sellers", or that only certain presitgious games can drive hype and sales for the Switch 2. In this video, I discuss how Pokopia proved this concept wrong, and why it might be useful to change our perspective about Nintendo's upcoming release calendar.
