Political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan noted in the framework of GALA’s “About Importance” program that he does not expect a breakthrough in the negotiations held in Moscow or Moldova.
Azerbaijan is moving forward with a strategic tactic, putting pressure on Armenia and Artsakh in all possible ways: making threatening statements, unleashing escalation on the front line, continuing the blockade and applying diplomatic pressure through third countries. Iskandaryan says that, thus, the war is not over for us, it continues with the use of other tools instead of weapons.
Moreover, Azerbaijani demands are constantly changing: having reached one point, they demand something else. The processes taking place on the Ukrainian front gave the neighboring country the opportunity to toughen its position. And Aliyev understands very well that the West and Russia will not take any other steps besides statements.
