Here;s how you can add a custom watermark to your word document in Word 2010 and Word 2007.

From the "Page Layout" tab, the "Page Background" section, click on "Watermark". You have a number of ready watermarks available such as "Confidential", "Do not copy", "ASAP" etc.

But let's see how you can add a custom watermark instead. Click on "custom watermark" and you can use either a picture watermark or a text watermark.

You can select whether your picture watermark in Word 2010 and Word 2007 will appear washed out by checking the "Washout" option and you can also set the scale.

When it comes to the text watermark in Word 2007 and Word 2010 you can set the language, the font, the font size, the font color as well as its layout, whether you would like a vertical or horizontal watermark. You can also choose whether you would like your watermark to be transparent by checking the "semitransparent" option.
