Dive Rescue Int’l Public Safety Scuba Instructor School - Indianapolis
BIG Congratulations to the 7 Firefighter Public Safety Rescue Divers who successfully completed the Dive Rescue International Public Safety Scuba Instructor Course (PSSI) hosted by the Indianapolis Fire Department last week. 13 firefighter students from departments across the U.S. convened in Indy for the 60 hour course looking to earn the coveted designation.
3 of the 7 who earned the Public Safety Scuba Instructor title are #IFD Firefighters Bryan Fleck, Randall Noller & Matt Perkins. Perkins was also selected as the "Top Instructor" for the class which a huge honor and we couldn't be more proud.
Also a HUGE Thank You to the team at Hamilton Southeastern Athletics and Hamilton Southeastern Schools for their support of this important program. Their staff went above and beyond to ensure the successful implementation and completion of the class by allowing us (again) to use their amazing facility. Their hospitality and partnership is much appreciated.
About the Course:
"Public Safety Scuba Instructor is Dive Rescue International’s most physically demanding and study intensive program. This unique program is designed to help dive teams develop a cost effective way to certify their Public Safety Divers (PSDs). By sending one of your team’s most experienced divers through this program, your department’s Public Safety Scuba Instructor (PSSI) can standardize non-divers and open-water divers as PSDs. A PSD certification combines the fundamentals taught in an open-water class with an emphasis on the exacting skills required to successfully dive in a rescue/recovery operation. Both the Public Safety Scuba Instructor and Public Safety Diver programs meet or exceed all the requirements set forth by the Recreational Scuba Training Council. After completion of the PSSI program, graduates may purchase PSD student kits to train members of their own department as PSDs."
