Ah, the joys of busking. Here’s the latest demeaning BS I have to put up with from the public. This is not ‘humbling’, it's not 'cute', it's not a 'compliment'. it’s mental illness. It’s one thing to be totally ignored, or even yelled at, now I’m being accused of faking it and playing air guitar. I can’t make this up. I’m not on candid camera or being pranked. Now you know why people don’t busk. You need nerves of steel and the constitution of a ninja turtle to survive out there. When I ask my viewers to support my channel with tips, patreon, bandcamp, this is the main reason why. It’s not a cakewalk out there on the street. It’s entertainment for you, but not for me while it’s happening. I have to suffer and take risks for these videos to be made. This guy could have just as easily taken it a step further. Every encounter is a roll of the dice. Violence does happen in this area and I’ve been attacked in similar encounters. (3 people stabbed here recently, cops shot the lunatic) Luckily, I was able to defuse the situation by letting him touch the guitar, which I normally would never allow for anyone, even those offering money.
On the street I am totally vulnerable to anyone approaching me. As I work the scariest transit terminal in the city, very close to downtown eastside, (a cesspool of lost lives) I am surrounded by mentally ill, homeless addicts, alcoholics, and there is always a very good chance that I have to deal with them up close. This genius thinks I'm not playing the guitar and actually starts to get aggressive, repeatedly telling me “You’re not playing that!” I was waiting for him to snap, but kept playing. While he says "You're not fu..ing playing that!" there was another nut job swearing away about ten feet from me. I was already surrounded and had only been playing for a half hour. So I let this guy touch my guitar to shut him up. The lightbulb went off in his head. I love the part where he takes his wallet out like he’s about to tip me and then doesn’t. Why tip a faker?
