Garrard LAB 80 Wire Clip Removal to Eventually Access Bearings
I removed this Garrard LAB 80 from a Bentley 353 console. I removed the rest of the components, too, for future use.
Being a fan of Garrards since I was kid (Dad had a Type A and that ony still works great), I have many Garrards but I had my eye on this LAB 80.
So anyway the auto gear was frozen. I unstuck that and many other parts. The platter spun at both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM but then I used oil and PB Blaster and now the bearings were very tight, and binding for some reason, when not in the auto cycle.
So I pulled the platter and I purchased a new bearing set, but this video shows me trying to get that circular wire clip out. My first time. 😀 Sorry for poor quality...it's a Monday (after work and dinner).
