How I Turned My Trauma into My Work

In April 2024, my astrologer, Phyllis, told me something profound during a reading: The new moon eclipse was in my sixth house—the house of work and healing. To an astrologer, she said, these look identical.
She told me I'd be forging new territory. Doing something uncharted with "let's just do it" energy. Martian. Ballsy. First-time projects executed without hesitation.
Here's what unfolded:
I finished my manuscript for Becoming an Empowered Survivor on March 31st, 2024.
A month later, my editor said the high school trauma section needed more depth. That depth came from cathartic healing work with my trauma therapist—which happened the same day as my astrology reading with Phyllis.
Divine timing.
I published Becoming an Empowered Survivor as a bestseller in October 2024.
I launched Let's HEAL! with Beth Jones podcast in January 2025.
Both were firsts for me. Both Martian projects. Both executed with that "let's just do it" energy, despite having no idea what I was doing.
Here's what I've learned:
My healing became my work. The deeper I healed, the clearer my purpose became. They are inseparable now.
The book required me to go deep into my trauma with my therapist. The podcast requires me to stay connected to my healing journey. The speaking, the mentoring, the framework—all of it flows from my healing work.
I'm no longer able to separate them. And I don't want to.
When your healing becomes your work, you've found your purpose.
That's what the sixth house taught me. That's what this journey has shown me. And that's what I'm living now.
