I Quit Drinking for My Fiancé. God Had a Different Plan.
My intention for 2025: Strengthen my direct connection with God. I wanted to hear Him clearly in my meditation and prayer, not just through other channels.
Then I met Eddy around Christmas 2024. He's a graduate of Men of Nehemiah. A recovering addict. And within weeks, I knew he was my person.
So I stopped drinking. Just like that.
I told myself it was solidarity. Why make his recovery harder? Why have alcohol around him when he's working every day to stay sober?
That made sense. It felt right.
But then, months later—October 2025—I'm in meditation, and God says: "You do realize that taking out alcohol was part of eliminating that barrier to me."
Wait. What?
The thing I did because of Eddy? God orchestrated it to give me direct access to Him.
The intention I set in January. The man I met at Christmas. The decision to quit drinking. The barrier removed between me and divine communication.
It was all connected.
This is what divine timing looks like. This is how God works—using our love for others to bring us closer to Him.
I didn't quit drinking just for Eddy. I quit drinking so I could hear God more clearly. So the barrier was removed. So my 2025 intention could be fulfilled.
