“De-influencing” Trend Uncovered
American Influencer Council (AIC) Board Vice President Aliza Licht addressed the de-influencing trend.
The irony of #deinfluencing is that the people downgrading products are essentially nano-influencers—every person with an audience, whether 100 followers or 1,000, is influencing someone. And in early April 2020, when media headlines aimed at threatening the creator economy's progress, those same headlines snapped back like a rubber band later that summer, crediting influencers as the saviors of the pandemic when big-ticket agencies were challenged to do the creative work.
