❓FAQs
Q1: What are “winning combinations” in Google Ads?
They’re headline and description pairings that Google Ads AI serves more often because they fit the search term and get better click and conversion signals.
Q2: Where do I check asset ratings in a search ad?
Open the search ad, click Asset details, then look at each headline and description rating.
Q3: What should I do with assets marked “Low”?
I replace them one or two at a time, so I can see which improvements improve ad performance without breaking the whole ad.
Q4: Are the “Combinations” truly the best performers?
Not exactly, they mainly show impressions, so I treat them as a clue and still judge results by conversion metrics.
Q5: Should I pin headlines and descriptions?
If you need more control over messaging, pinning can help, but I avoid over-pinning because it can reduce testing.
Q6: Where do I find the same info in Performance Max?
Go into the asset group, click View details, then check asset performance and combinations.
Q7: How do I improve ROI without changing bid strategies?
I usually start with asset swaps, negative keyword work (where it applies), and landing page alignment before touching bids.
Q8: What’s the best optimisation rhythm for this?
Weekly check-ins work well, especially if you’re getting enough clicks and conversions to learn from the data.
Q9: Which metrics matter most for ad optimisation?
Conversions, conversion rate, CPA, CTR, and conversion value or ROAS if you track revenue.
Q10: Why does a landing page matter for Google Ads performance?
If the landing page doesn’t match the query and ad copy, you pay for clicks that bounce, and Quality Score can suffer.
