Feeling the swing (Guitar Thoughts)
Sometimes students struggle with rhythm, and I have to admit, it isn’t fun when you know you’re off but can’t seem to figure out why (rhythm is a tough thing to teach for this exact reason.) Technical explanations aside (when they do not prove helpful or pull a student away from feeling the groove), stripping away variables such as the riff, chords, and even all notes sometimes helps to focus on the objective: simply understanding how it feels to swing it.
