To start a HP a1720n desktop computer from a USB Flash drive, Press the ESC key on the keyboard after you press the power button on your computer. The boot manager will start up use the Arrow keys on your keyboard to highlight your USB Flash drive, and press Enter.
Wait for Ubuntu to start up which can take a minute or longer depending on how fast your computer is, and how fast your USB flash drive is.
When Ubuntu has loaded, press the "Try Ubuntu" button on the menu after you changed your language if English is not your spoken language.
In a minute or more, Ubuntu will finish loading.
After Ubuntu have finish loading you can start using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS from your USB flash drive, and use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS unity desktop with the sidebar, HUD, and other features found in Unity.
To power off Ubuntu, Click on the power icon on the top right, and a menu will appear with a shutdown option. Click Shutdown, and shutdown again on the power off menu, and wait a few seconds or more for Ubuntu to shutdown.
