Kodak Zi8 HD Portable Digital Video Camcorder, Good For Recording YouTube + Digital Videos
The Kodak Zi8 is a great starter camera for making YouTube Videos and other sort of online and offline videos.
I use the Kodak Zi8 to record most of my videos on this channel. I'm using a basic Kodak digital camera to record this video of the Zi8.
The Kodak Zi8 can record video in 480P/WVGA, 720P, 720P 60FPS, 1080P, so it can record both average to HD quality video. It is very easy to record video. You just need to press the red button on the back, and it is easy to change the quality settings by using the built-in joystick to pick the quality setting you want to record in like 720P 60FPs before pressing down on the record button which is also the joystick.
It uses SD Memory cards to record video to, so you can use more then one card to continue recording when one card is full, you can just take it out, and add an empty or non-full card and continue recording. It is also very easy to use, and turns on fast, so you can start recording videos in seconds. It also has 16MB internal memory.
It also features an external microphone jack, so you can record higher quality microphone audio if the built-in microphone is not good enough for your needs.
There is also 2x Digital Zoom on the lens. The lens can be adjusted for Close up/macro mode and regular mode for regular recording from farther away with a switch on the top.
There are also output video jacks to playback video on a TV, HDTV, or computer monitor via HDMI, or RCA.
It is also easy yo preview your videos and photos on the Zi8 screen which is pretty big for a digital portable camcorder. You can also delete unwanted videos and photos on your Memory card very easily with the built-in Zi8 software for the camera, or delete all files on your video camera to free up space.
The Kodak Zi8 also has a built-in USB port to make connecting it to your PC or laptop faster without the need to use a cable.
You can also mount the Zi8 onto a tripod stand to record video more stablely, or set up your camcorder to automatically record video while you sit in front of it like a webcam on top of a computer monitor.
The Kodak Zi8 can also be used to take photos as well.
The battery life on the Kodak Zi8 is pretty good, and it charges pretty fast.
I also like that the Zi8 is compact, and easy to carry around in my pocket. There is also a hole on it for you to attach a small camera strap on lanyard, so you are less likely to drop it on the floor. The Kodak Zi8 also fits most digital camera bags for point and shoot cameras.
The Zi8's battery is also replaceable by removing the front door, so you can have more then one battery for when you plan on recording a lot, or buy a new battery to replace your old battery if your old battery breaks in the future.
The Kodak Zi8 also comes with basic video editing software, and an instructional manual to teach you how to use your camcorder to record video, take pictures, transfer video, and charge your video camera.
