If your battery warning light stays on immediately after a jump start, the cause is likely not a failed alternator. Before replacing parts, check for a blown high-amperage fusible link. This main fuse, often rated between 100A and 150A, protects your vehicle's sensitive electronics from voltage spikes that can occur during a jump. When this link blows, it creates an open circuit, preventing the alternator from recharging the battery. Your car then runs solely on the battery's limited reserve power and will stall again shortly.
