Conquering procrastination: unpacking tasks

We all tend to underestimate how long tasks will take us to complete. This tendency is an enabler of procrastination, i.e. putting off until some point in the future what you should really be getting on with now! In this video I show you a simple method you can use to more accurately estimate the time it will take you to get your academic tasks done. This will help you avoid procrastinating.

Buehler, R., Griffin, D., & Ross, M. (1994). Exploring the" planning fallacy": Why people underestimate their task completion times. Journal of personality and social psychology, 67(3), 366.

Kruger, J., & Evans, M. (2004). If you don't want to be late, enumerate: Unpacking reduces the planning fallacy. Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 40(5), 586-598.
