Writing Helper: Elaborating before Writing
Children often have difficulty elaborating on their ideas when writing. A writing helper made from folded paper can help a child plan out ideas before writing. The main idea of a paragraph or essay can be written on the back. On each flap, your child can write the ideas or details that correspond with the topic. Underneath each flap, have your child stretch out each idea further with additional details. Use the writing helper as support while composing a paragraph or essay.
