1. Where/How To Get It
Redstone can be obtained in multiple ways.
either from Redstone ore, which can spawn from Y level -64 to Y level 15, as the stone or deepslate variant,
it gets more common the deeper you go, especially below Y level -32.
Alternative Ways to Get Redstone:
• Villager trading— clerics sell redstone dust.
• Loot chests in abandoned mineshafts, trial chambers, and other structures.
• Witch farms—witches drop redstone along with other useful materials.
2. What is Redstone Used For?
Redstone has many uses, from brewing potions to trimming armor, but what we’re focusing on today is its ability to transmit signals to power redstone components, or creating different redstone circuits.
3. Signal Strength:
Redstone signal has a strength between 1 and 15. The further it travels from a power source, the weaker it gets—until it stops entirely.
4. Redstone Componenets:
Redstone components are essential blocks for building redstone circuits, farms, and contraptions. Key power sources include levers, which toggle on and off, buttons that emit short pulses, and redstone torches or blocks that provide constant power. Pressure plates, which activate when stepped on by players or mobs, and tripwires, which detect movement or items, are also vital. Other components like pistons, observers, redstone lamps, comparators, and note blocks each have specific functions, such as pushing blocks, detecting updates, or playing sounds. Dispensers and droppers eject items, while hoppers move items between containers. These components form the backbone of many complex redstone creations.
