In this video, I talk about my views on people quitting their day jobs to go indie dev. It seems that almost every week there's a post on the gamedev subreddit where someone announced that they've just quit their job and are going to make a game, supported by their life savings. There are also frequent posts from people who have attempted this, but it hasn't worked out well. The games take longer than they thought, they run out of money, complications arise... and then they have to go job hunting again. There are some very depressing stories. My advice is mostly centred around minimising risk! Risk is bad.
