● Now, most people grew up in a congregational setting, being taught that the anger of God had to be satisfied by a blood sacrifice of some kind. However, after years of the law and animal sacrifices being done, God decided to send one final sacrifice of a spotless or perfect lamb, so He sent His only begotton Son.
● The thing is that “NO PENAL SUBSTITUTION” is based on the truth that Jesus DID NOT suffer the penalty of mankind’s sins, but only came to awaken mankind’s thinking to his true identity in the Father.
● I’ll share this one scripture in this write up from tonight which is, Isaiah 53:4 (NKJV) which says, “Surely He has borne our griefs {Literally, sicknesses} And carried our sorrows {Literally, pains}; Yet we esteemed {reckoned or thought} Him stricken, Smitten {as in Struck down} by God, and afflicted.” Notice that the writer’s view at that time was that mankind “esteemed” or thought that Jesus was struck down by God. That the afflictions of mankind came upon Jesus by God.
● It was from our past traditional religious system that view this concept as interpreted by those who lived under the mindset of the law would have understood it. But the fact is that Jesus came to “reconcile” also interpreted as “reconnect” us back to our right mind. Or, better yet, back to THE RIGHT MIND, which is the same mind that was in Christ Jesus. So, it would even appear that some of the Old Testament writers did not necessarily paint us a picture of NO Penal Substitution.
● The famous sacrifice of Jesus simply reconnected mankind’s mistaken identity back to his God-identity. What Jesus did had purpose and value, but it was more of a visual aid, which was simply to bring mankind’s amnesiac state of mind to a state of being awakened to the truth that he does not have any mistaken identity, but only that he was reconnected back to his God-identity.
