In my previous video looking at the shutter modes on the EOS R5, I mentioned that some drive and shutter modes cause the camera to operate at less than the full 14-bit ADC conversion range. Additionally, if you've ever looked into dynamic range in digital systems, you'll know that the bit depth of the ADC directly translates to the available dynamic range. In this video, I'm going to look briefly at the impact of shooting in either 13-bit (using continuous high+) or 12-bit (using the fully electronic shutter) on the image's dynamic range. Spoiler; it's not as much as you might expect.
