THE FIRST WITCH TRIAL IN PARIS
Witch hunts are a long-standing phenomenon, but they reached unprecedented levels during the Middle Ages and especially during the Renaissance in Europe. We have therefore chosen to present a historical first: the first time a trial was held properly in Paris. It involved the young Jeanne de Brigues, known in the region for tracking down thieves using her gifts, whose fate was sealed at the stake. She is one of thousands of women who suffered the wrath of a public whose blind thirst for revenge needed to be quenched.
