Floodstage | South Fork American River at 39,200 CFS | Hiking Into the Chili Bar Section
Solo mission to scout the South Fork of the American River at flood-stage. Hiked in via the Red Shack Trailhead just outside of Placerville, CA during the worst part of the 12.31.2022 atmospheric river. Hiking conditions were expected to be awful and the trail did not disappoint. Significant flooding was noted throughout the hike. The river itself was magnificent!!! Truly a spectacle to see in person during such a large storm. A very exciting mission.
