CALL TO WORSHIP
Welcome, Beloved! Why have you gathered today?
We have come to worship God, who is the maker of us all!
What do you seek from God, our Creator?
We seek God’s wisdom to guide us and show us how to live.
Are you ready to follow when God’s wisdom leads down unexpected paths?
We will trust, and we will follow wherever God’s wisdom leads us.
Well then, Beloved of God, what are you waiting for?
Come! Let us worship and seek God’s uncommon wisdom together! Amen.
Written by Dr. Lisa Hancock, Discipleship Ministries, June 2024.
*OPENING HYMN: # 600 Wonderful Words of Life
*OPENING PRAYER (Unison)
Holy Lord, maker of us all, you call us to love our neighbors as ourselves and teach us
that faith without works is dead. Open us to the opportunities for ministry that lie before
us, where faith and words and the need of our neighbor come together in name of
Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen. Revised Common Lectionary Prayers copyright © 2002.

us today. Amen.

SECOND LESSON: James 2:1-10 (11-13), 14-17

SERMON

RESPONSE TO THE WORD: #85 We Believe In One True God
JOYS/CONCERNS/PRAISE
Gracious God, we come before you today knowing that we often fall short of
your call to love one another well. We allow ourselves to be blinded by wealth
and power. We ignore those around us who suffer injustice, poverty, and
rejection. We tune out the cries of the poor and those on the edges of our
communities. Help us to see your great generosity, hear your word of mercy, and
feel your great love for all who need your redemptive grace. Strengthen us to
reach out in service to those who are in need. Make us aware of those outside
our own communities, that we may see them as your precious children and
serve them in humility and joy. May we continue to grow in grace as we learn
how to serve you in the name of the great Servant, even Jesus Christ. Amen.

God of mercy and healing, you who hear the cries of those in need, receive these
petitions of your people that all who are troubled may know peace, comfort, and
courage.
Please feel free to call out your joys/concerns/praise at this time. Prayers of the People, concluding with:
Life-giving God, heal our lives, that we may acknowledge your wonderful deeds and
offer you thanks from generation to generation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LORD’S PRAYER
OFFERING/DOXOLOGY #94 Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow
OFFERATORY PRAYER
Gracious Lord, we join together in prayer. We recognize that daily prayer impacts our
spiritual health. Likewise, offering our tithes to you impacts our spiritual health. The
acts of praying and giving unify our church community and place our collective
attention on you. As we practice these spiritual disciplines, we hope to draw even
closer to you. We pray in the name of the Jesus Christ who offers salvation to all
throughout our world. Amen. Copyright © 2024 David S. Bell. Reprinted with permission from www.DavidSBell.org.
*CLOSING HYMN:
SENDING FORTH
DISMISSAL WITH BLESSING
Go forth in peace. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the
communion of the Holy Spirit be with You all. Amen.
