The carbon cycle is the process of carbon atoms moving between the atmosphere and the earth. Carbon is the chemical backbone of all life on Earth. Carbon is vital for photosynthesis to occur. Carbon is needed to burn fossil fuels. Carbon is mainly stored in the form of gases, such as carbon dioxide. Carbon is the fourth most common element in the entire universe. Humans play a major role in the carbon cycle!
