Hong Kong-style chickencage apartments are popping up in Seoul and Suwon? A new complex in Suwon is scheduled to open for occupancy at the end of August. The short distance between buildings has even led to a joke among prospective residents that they can open their windows and talk to each other.
The Youth Housing complex near the subway station, completed in Hangang-ro 2-ga, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, near Samgakji Station, is also notorious for its chickencage rental properties. This mixed-use residential complex, located in a commercial area, has a floor area ratio of a staggering 962%.
