Thomas Departing from Groff's Picnic Grove - Railfanning - Strasburg, PA (9/22/24)
Continuing on with my uploads from Strasburg Railroad, here is another video from their Day Out with Thomas event. While @Mrs.Plow_Bender (Jenna) and I were chasing trains, we met up with Strasburg #1 (Thomas) at the crossing just before Groff's Picnic Grove. This is a stop along the Strasburg Railroad where tourists can disembark from the train and enjoy a picnic, or just walk around before heading back to East Strasburg. This is also where Thomas and N&W #475 would pass each other on the line as well.
In the video, Thomas has just run around to the front of the train to begin the return trip to East Strasburg. As the train starts moving, you can hear Thomas working hard to move the heavy coaches, and you'll even notice some wheel slip. As he approaches, he whistles to give the signal for the grade crossing and alerting any approaching motorists. After going over the crossing, the train then continues on past Cherry Crest Adventure Farm and back West towards East Strasburg.
