Buffalo & Pittsburgh Train Emerges From the Fog (Down Low) - Railfanning - Falls Creek, PA (10/8/24)
Here is the low camera angle footage of the Buffalo & Pittsburgh train I caught in Falls Creek earlier this month. My objective here was to put one of my cameras next to the track and record the train up close as it went by. I attempted to do this another time before, however I was unable to get everything set up correctly and in time before the train came through. Despite being a failed attempt, the footage made me aware that the camera was prone to vibration as the train would go by. To rectify this issue, I came up with the idea to put soft foam underneath the tripod legs, and this seems to have substantially reduced the vibration issue, if not removed it entirely.
As mentioned before, this was during my meet up with friend/fellow YouTuber, @eddierools (Eddie) when we headed to Falls Creek on a Tuesday morning. We arrived at 8:30am and the train came through just before 9:00am. As there was heavy fog that morning, it limited visibility, but also made for an interesting look as the train emerged from the mist. The consist was lead by 3 Buffalo & Pittsburgh Dash 9 locomotives, formerly owned by BNSF.
