The Dynamic Nature of Risk Assessment
This video outlines the necessity to update the patients’ risk factors during hospitalization. Additional risk factors such as infection, unsuspected cancer, immobility, necessity for central lines, or repeat procedures may occur. A final risk score should be done at the time of hospital discharge to select those individuals who may be candidates for outpatient anticoagulant prophylaxis. This video was presented at the VITALy23 “Vital State of the Art and Advancements” meeting of the v-Win foundation on Albarella Island, Italy, May 25-27, 2023.
