Advice For the New Grad

Graduating from university as a Chiropractor is an exciting time. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

To be honest… it was EXCITING and SCARY at the same time.

Exciting because I just finally finished 8 long years of university studies (In Canada, I had to do 4-year undergrad in addition to 4 years of Chiropractic studies).
Scary because I have to officially figure this out on my own!

No teachers to tell me what to study, when to study, and whether I pass or not. (Actually, that stopped when I left high school… but you get my point!).

This is the REAL world.

Where everything is on the line.

Your career begins NOW.
There are no “pause” buttons.
There are no “repeat” years.
There are no “do-overs”.

Your career path has already begun… and time is ticking.

The Start-Up phase takes courage and a lot of work. But doing the work is never enough. It takes a certain mindset and work ethic to make the first couple of years successful.

That is why you see some seem to accelerate towards success while others struggle and fall behind.

Recently, a new graduate emailed me and asked for my best advice for him, and so I thought I share my thoughts here so you can benefit too.

Lesson 1: You don’t know what you don’t know.
Lesson 2: You have to decide to TURN PRO.
Lesson 3: Choose the right Strategy.
Lesson 4: Get to work.
