Earth's energy budget at different latitudes or the so-called meridional Earths energy budget. The tropics have surplus of energy while the high latitudes have a deficit of energy. Therefore, we have a constant transfer of energy from the low latitudes to the high latitudes through the general circulation of the atmosphere and ocean currents.
This video follows Chapter II (“Energy, radiation and earth’s energy budget”) of Fundamentals of Weather and Climate and is Lecture 19 in this series.
