The Friesian horse breed is one of the oldest breeds in Europe, originally from the province of Friesland in the north of the Netherlands. These horses are known for their impressive appearance: black coat without markings, thick mane and tail, and lush "brushes" on the legs. They are distinguished by a powerful but elegant build, with a high neck and expressive eyes.
Friesians are famous for their smooth, high gait, which makes them popular in harness and for dressage. Despite their impressive size and strength, these horses are known for their friendly and calm nature, which makes them suitable for a variety of tasks - from agricultural work in the past to participation in parades, shows and films in modern times.
Historically, the Friesian breed was sought after for military purposes due to its endurance and maneuverability. However, as technology advanced, the need for military horses declined, and Friesians became more popular as sport and draft horses.
Today, the Friesian breed remains a symbol of elegance and strength, continuing to win the hearts of horse lovers around the world.
