Broward Cultural Division presents: Business Skills for the Modern Creator, an online series taught by leading arts practitioners and industry professionals to teach artists how to make their creative passion a successful career.
-------------
Part 1: Choosing a Business Structure and Creating a Business Plan
Learn the characteristics of business models (such as sole proprietorships and limited liability companies) and best practices for choosing your business structure, taught by Rafael Cruz. Choice of business structure is one critical factor that determines an artist’s profitability and sustainability. A business plan is a vital tool that artists and arts-related business owners need to succeed. The session will also provide individual artists the opportunity to review the major themes of the business plan to have the opportunity to design their own course of action.
Part 2: Protecting Your Rights
Learn about the various tools used to protect you and your artistic product (including copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, licensing and contracts) with music industry professional and educator Serona Elton. Starts at 1:45:26.
