ZXSimulator on the Web: ZX81 emulator inside Sinclair QL emulator inside DOS emulator inside Browser
In this journal entry I describe how the ZXSimulator, a ZX81 ROM emulator, was published on the web. By configuring a JavaScript version of DOSBox to run an older DOS-based Sinclair QL emulator, QLAY, and then running ZXSimulator on top of it, a mind bending experience of nested emulators is achieved. I also take a moment to compare the newly webified ZXSimulator to the other ZX81 emulator on the web, the JtyOne emulator. Even if you don't use a ZX81 or QL, you'll learn how to do it yourself with your own retro gear.
