Blepharitis is a condition involving the buildup of oils, skin cells, and bacteria on the eyelid margin, often forming a biofilm. Managing it is crucial, especially for those with dry eyes. Here are two effective methods for addressing mild blepharitis:
1. Lid Wipes: Consider using tea tree oil-based lid wipes, such as Blephadex. Use them once daily, or twice daily for severe cases. Gently scrub both the upper and lower eyelids for about 30 seconds with the unfolded wipe, then flip it over and do the same for the other side. No need to rinse afterward.
2. Bleph Foam: Eyeeco's tea tree oil-based foam is another option. Use two pumps to create foam, then close your eyes and scrub for about 30 seconds. If you're in the shower, leave it on for 1-2 minutes to help break down the biofilm, then rinse off.
These methods are effective for managing mild blepharitis. It's essential to avoid homemade tea tree oil concoctions, as they can harm your eyes.
