Just a little animation, for fun.

Note, this is not correct for a multitude of reasons. First, the "curvature of space" here requires an extra dimension (an extrinsic euclidean surface, a 2D manifold embedded in ℝ³). In contrast, the curvature of the spacetime manifold is intrinsic, meaning it does not require to be embedded in any extra dimensions. This animation also does not account for time, which is a major component in the effect of gravity. There is also irony here, since the rather large "photons" are emitting light (which reaches the camera immediately in a fraction of the time taken for the large photons' small changes in position), as well as space itself (hence, the artistic aspect).

To generate the curvature of space, I plotted a Z math function on a 512x512 grid. I then took the outer rim of the z math function, extruded it outward to cover a large area, then scaled Z to 0 to make space there flat. I then decimated the mesh to remove unnecessary details in the mesh. The photons' long trails are rendered using excessive motion blur, and the grid is procedurally generated to allow for "infinite" detail. Everything was rendered in Eevee.
