EP 206 Owen Pye on The Chevy Music Showcase
Don't you think episode by episode 6 we should be settling things down a bit for some sweet singer-songwritery goodness? Well look no further than this week's offering: Owen Pye. You may as well lay your burden down right now, because this guy's gonna get his sounds into your soul sooner or later. His melodies are crisp and hooky, his vocals are honest and heartfelt and he just radiates a positivity that opens you up where you least expect it. Owen's songs are each their own master of the art of simplicity. There's nothing slick going on there. He lays it out there, free of laborious poetry or math-inspired guitar work; just solid songwriting and truthful performance. And without being able to pinpoint where and how, I can only say there's a goodness to his music that gives you just a little more hope in some sort of greater commonality.
Here in Owen's first of two episodes, he hangs out with Scarlet Tanager at Plush and talks about something he got good at pretty early on... taking to the road.
