Unconventional Abs...
The workout is dedicated to all of those who wants to improve in your abdominal strength, vertebral stability and posture, without adding stress to your spine.
Why Pilates Abs?
The Pilates exercises allow us to use muscles from the core, specially those deep abdomen muscles like the transverse abdominal muscle. The main difference between Pilates Abs and conventional abs like crunches, is that conventional focuses on working superficial muscles (rectus abdominis, external oblique) meanwhile with Pilates we strengthen the deep tissues of the abdomen, crucial to prevent and rehabilitate spinal injuries.
Transverse Abdominal Muscle:
This muscle behaves as the corsé or belt of our body, therefore its contraction, does NOT produce or creates any type of movement, what it does is compress our viscera, stabilize and protect our spine. If you have been through a pregnancy or developed a bad posture, or need to strengthen or recover your deep tissue muscles.
Make sure to keep your core stable ALL the time, keep your eyes on your belly (this relieves the stress from the neck) and DON'T move anything else rather than your arms and legs!
