In this video, I show you how to fix a broken downspout drain that was causing water to pool and crack my driveway. This is a simple DIY fix that anyone can do to prevent expensive water damage.
TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 - The Problem: Old, broken PVC and concrete damage 00:43 - Taking apart the gutter to access the drain 01:05 - Sliding the new drain pipe into place 01:45 - Re-attaching the downspout to the wall brackets 02:12 - Sizing Tips: 3-inch vs 2-inch pipe compatibility 02:40 - Securing the connection to prevent future leaks 03:06 - Evidence: How water overflows cause concrete cracking 03:25 - Final Result: A clean, dry fix
ABOUT THIS REPAIR: My old drain pipe was dry-rotted and cracked, which let water seep directly onto the concrete [03:06]. I replaced it with a flexible black ADS/corrugated pipe. One pro tip I found: using a slightly smaller pipe allows it to slide inside the existing drain for a better, leak-proof seal [02:31].
TOOLS & MATERIALS:
Flexible Drain Pipe (ADS/Corrugated)
Screwdriver or Nut Driver (for gutter brackets)
Exterior Gutter Screws
Touch-up Paint (optional for the downspout)
WHY THIS MATTERS: If you don't fix your downspouts, water will eventually settle under your foundation, leading to thousands of dollars in repairs. This $20 fix can save you a fortune in the long run!
