In this journal entry I'll showcase software I wrote in the 90's for the Macintosh through a small company I created: Orchard Software. I started with a command shell and scripting environment, followed by a cron utility, followed by a process scheduler which hacked the kernel, and ending with a nifty multi-alias tool. Many of these were inspired by the Sinclair QL and its preemptive multitasking kernel, something the Mac lacked until the early 2000's when it transitioned to BSD Unix. It was a fun time programming for the Mac back then and even more fun prototyping some of this on the QL.
