The Islamic Story of Umar bin Khattab That Thrilled the Quraysh
Umar bin Khattab was one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad who was also the second caliph of Islam. Umar bin Khattab was born 12 years after the birth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. His father was named Khattab and his mother was named Khatamah. He was tall, strong, with muscles protruding from his legs and arms. A thick beard and handsome face, and his skin color was reddish brown.
Sayyidina Umar grew up in the Bani Adi environment, one of the tribes of the Quraysh tribe. Sayyidina Umar's lineage met the lineage of the Prophet Muhammad through his grandfather, Ka'ab.
Before converting to Islam, Umar bin Khattab was known as a person who was fiercely hostile to Muslims. He followed the teachings of his ancestors and committed acts of ignorance, but was still able to maintain his dignity.
Umar bin Khattab converted to Islam in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, the sixth year of the prophethood, which was three days after Sayyidina Hamzah bin Abdul Muttalib converted to Islam.
