Defold is a multi-platform game engine that simplifies development of 2D games for all major platforms – HTML5, Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
It's shipped as a downloadable editor that you can use on your computer. It has everything you need to begin building and testing right there -- no extra work needed. It uses git as a backend for data storage, and is completely free!
After having worked with building apps on Android and Mac before, a simple, purpose-built solution that does not only those platforms, but also HTML5? I was all in.
So I'll give a tutorial on exactly how I set about building my own platformer using Defold. I hope you'll join me!
