Filming YouTube videos in 3x2m room. Impossible?
I'm filming my YouTube videos in a small 3x2m room. This video is about my 3 steps you need to consider when setting up your own YouTube filming space / YouTube studio. These steps apply to most situations, but are especially suitable for a small space / home YouTube studio builds.
THE PLAN
First of all you need to know what you are going after. Are you planning to shoot product reviews, talking head shots or video podcasts? Based on this you can plan out the layout of your setup as well as camera / lighting gear you will need. Are you going to shoot with a mirrorless camera like the Sony A7IV, A7SIII, FX3 or will you shoot with an iPhone?
A-ROLL SETUP
First shot I was building was the A-Roll shot. I personally shoot my A-Roll shot with my Sony A7IV mirrorless camera with the Sony 24-70mm F2.8 GMII lens. If you are planning to shoot talking head shots you need to set design this shot in a way which will be appealing to you and your audience. In this video I will show you how I approached building my A-Roll shot.
B-ROLL SETUP
B-Roll shots are also important if you want to showcase a product or some action in your videos. Some considerations are: what are you planning to shoot, how much space do you need to shoot it and how you want it to look in your youtube video.
LIGHTING YOUR VIDEOS
Last but not least is the lighting. This part can make or break your visuals. Even the best set design will look dull and not professional without proper lighting. With lighting you are emphasising important parts of your shots and you are setting the mood of your YouTube videos. You can use professional lighting gear like my Aputure 120D or a simple window as a natural light.
