'Polka Dots and Moonbeams' was written in 1940, and was first recorded in that same year by Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra. This was Frank Sinatra's first hit with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. It has also been sung by Sarah Vaughan, Mel Tormé, Buddy Greco, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Stacey Kent, and many others.
