Jones and Symes wrote 'There is No Greater Love' in 1936, and it was recorded that same year by the bands of Woody Herman and of Duke Ellington. It would later go on to be recorded by many other artists, including Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Guy Lombardo, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr., Bobby Darin, Helen Merrill, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, and many others.
