Drs Tracey Weissgerber and Vesna Garovic, physicians in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, describe the results of their study published in the September 2015 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where they found that women who experienced hypertension during pregnancy were more likely to have higher uric acid levels later in life, which may prove to be a mechanistic tool for predicting risk of CV and renal diseases.
