We recall Euler's formula and use this as a motivating idea behind defining the exponential of a complex number. We will later rigorously justify this definition using analytic continuation. Once we have this definition we are able to define the sine and cosine of a complex number. With these definitions, we show that the cosine and sine functions are unbounded on the complex plane.
