(204) Power Testing the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro S2 – Ortur Master 2 Pro - 20W LU2-4-SF-24v
A few weeks ago I was contacted by Made The Best (link below). They offered to send me a new laser module for my Ortur Laser Master 2 non-pro 12v desktop laser to test. Instead of the laser module, they sent me a new Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro S2 - 24v desktop laser machine with the LU2-4-SF (Short Focus) laser module. This is my first sponsored video, with many more to come, hopefully.
The Ortur laser master 2 Pro Is an amazing upgrade to the original Laser Master 2 12v. It is capable of engraving at 10,000mm/min. However, I get the best results around 6,000mm/min. The engraving area is 400mm x 400mm made from powder coated aluminum. I has included limit switches as well to automatically stop the laser when homing positions are reached.
On the Ortur website it says that this machine has flame detection and emergency shut off, however, mine did do come with these features. I'm not sure if there was a design change or if mine was just an earlier module? It also shows a dragchain on the y axis. Mine did not come with this feature either?
The laser module is a fixed focus 4.5 -5.5mw (output). It comes with a 50mm acrylic focusing block to make it quick and easy for a beginner to focus and get started. The laser shield is magnetic and simple to remove for lens cleaning. It also comes with many test materials for you to try.
For today, I am checking the power settings for the SF module with the majority of the materials that I use. I did not include an unboxing or assembly of the machine as there are so many others out there. Assembly only took about 20 minutes. Just be sure to take the extra time to double check ALL of the screws as some of mine on the X axis were loose.
For each material I used 6,000mm/min and varying power settings to see what worked best. I used cardboard, raw slate, painted slate and leather. I have much more testing to do. I am hoping that the focus is correct. I may be close but I doubt it will be spot on. I may need to invest in the Z axis height adjuster to be able to dial it in.
