From this video you will learn, how to use the Portfolio Map Section of the Proposition Engine. And you will find out why the portfolio map is such an important part of finding and categorizing your new value propositions
Products and solutions don’t exist in a vacuum; they are part of market or portfolio. Therefore whenever we plan to create a new value proposition we will need to know where it fits in. We need to place it on map of our portfolio. This will help us and others to find again later and see at a glance all the other innovations in our portfolio.
This means that before we create out first project we need to build at least a basic portfolio map so we can put our project in its rightful context. We start at the top level by defining our business or businesses. We can enter as many entries at each level as we like. Then under each orange business, we can add blue categories and so on, until we have defined our portfolio map.
Don’t worry, we can come back and edit and add to our portfolio at any time in the future. If our proposition map gets large and complex we can select small sections, give them a name and save them as a cropped view for quick navigation later.
Now when we create a new project we can quickly tell the software where it sits by clicking on the correct box in our portfolio map. It’s as simple as one click. Wherever you visit your portfolio map in future the number of projects and what types they are will be clearly visible. Our Projects will show as green, those of our teams will be yellow and company projects will be red.
