Case Study: A Modern Glass House on the Water
Spacious and intentional. Modern and mindful. This home on Lake Minnetonka is a private oasis encased in glass.
A home made of glass is less than structurally sound. To prevent it from twisting, architecture firm Charlie & Co. Design Ltd. bookended the main level’s open floor plan with a fireplace and a “box within a box” that contains the kitchen, laundry room, and powder room.
Natural light is maximized by 60-foot-long sliding doors from the Marvin Modern collection and an overhead skylight. The doors fully open on both sides of the home to seamlessly flow from one end to the other, blending the indoors and outdoors.

“What's really remarkable about this home, from my perspective, is just how unique it is,” said builder John Kraemer. “We build homes of all shapes, sizes and styles, and what I thought was so cool about this house was just how much glass there is.”
