Finally back from several weeks on the road! Still processing the magic that happened at kâniyâsihk last week. I can't believe the amount of language I heard when I was out there, so many conversations, so much to process.

Anyway, this week back to work! We look at a story we've looked at before from Cree Literacy Network, "Why the Moose has a baggy coat" (https://creeliteracy.org/2024/02/08/w...) adapted from nêhiyâw atayohkêwina (Cree Legends): Stories of Wîsahkêcâhk. Saskatoon: Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Centre 1973 by Solomon Ratt into Plains Cree.

We do a little study this week, and then talk about morphology or "root word method" a bit. I don't actually know what "root word method" is, but I have been hearing more and more about it recently (it came up a few times at camp) and I'm certain it pertains to the study of morphemes, so we're starting to dig into that a little bit to see if we can devise a way to study it that will help all learners.
